Chris Ditton for Assessor
Chris Ditton is an attorney, who has been practicing law for the past 29 years. He is an arbitrator for Lake and McHenry Counties mandatory arbitration program. He has worked as a contract attorney for the City of Chicago in their Building Department/Fasttrack Section and, for the past twenty-one years, as a solo practitioner. Chris previously worked as a Fire Fighter/ Paramedic in Grayslake.
Chris holds a B.S. in Political Science from St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota and a J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois. He served as president of the St. John’s Alumni Association, Chicago Chapter, member of the Round Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and, for three years, with one year as the vice president.
Chris has lived in Grayslake for the past 26 years and is married, with one son and a step-daughter. Chris’ son is completing his college degree from Bemidji State University and step-daughter works in Grayslake as a hair stylist, Chris’ wife works as a contract closer for Chicago Title. With his family, they are parishioners of St. Gilbert Church in Grayslake.
In his position as assessor, Chris would like to continue the progress made towards fair and equitable assessments. The overriding goal is to use our best efforts to ensure that every property is assessed fairly, so that the property owner pays his/her/its fair share of the tax burden and not more.
Chris will continue to work with our elected officials to determine the best and fairest way possible to relieve the real property tax burden on our property owners. Chris has worked with our elected officials to help our senior community, by increasing the threshold for the senior freeze from $55,000 to $65,000 of household income.
Chris looks forward to continuing to help the residents of Avon Township and being a part of a slate that puts people first.
